8/3/2008 1-55" Bluefin kept, 3 others released at the Lobster Claw!

Sea Cure ran to the Lobster Claw for a chunk/Jig trip with Kevin Lee, his brother John Lee and Fran Hancock. We arrived to the Claw around 7:00 am and anchored up. It wasn't long after we started throwing bait that we got the 1st fish. The 1st fish hit a sardine at 80' as we were setting lines. Of course he had to go under the boat around the rudder and prop. But it didn't end there. We cut the line off, retied to another rod. We fought this fish for about 2 hours, including the whole line in the rudder prop ordeal. The other 3 hit butterfly jigs, mackrel color. The one we boated was 55". All the fish were in the same size class. Kevin and Fran got to work out there new jigging gear, and really put them to the test. These were very powerful fish and each fish made us work. Kevin, Fran and John did a great job as they shared angling each fish. After the 2nd fish it wasn't sharing anymore, it was "I need a break, someone else get a belt on." All 4 fish were hooked up for over 1 hour each, so these guys spent about 4-5 hours fighting fish throughout the day. Thanks Kevin, Fran and John. It was a pleasure fishing with you guys, and you have some Awesome gear!

7/5-6/08 150# Big Eye, 7 Yellowfin and 2 Mahi at the Toms Canyon!!

Sea Cure's 1st overnighter and offshore trip of the season!!! What a start! We ran with the Tom Norgard charter from south jersey and Ohio. Tom, son Brian, son-in-law Chris, and good friends Joe and Augie. We got to the tip of the Toms early afternoon on Saturday and heard good reports from a few friends of yellowfin and big eye. We trolled one yellowfin just inshore of the tip in about 450' of water just before we set up one the edge for the night.
Whithin one hour of setting up we caught 2 nice gaffer mahi. The night bite was slow. We boated 1 yellowfin from about 80' deep, and lost about a 150# mako on a mono rig. It was a short night, we trolled till dark and trolled pre first light, knowing the bite has been better on the troll.
The morning troll was the best bite. We boated 5 yellowfin and a 150# BigEye. One yellowfin hit the planner rod down about 120' deep. 2 others hit when we popped the planned to check and reset it. I think a few followed the rig all the way to the surface from 100'. As the planner came up to the surface 3 or more tuna jumped through 2 bars. We got 2 of them. We worked the area a little longer and it paid off. 4 Lines started screeming. The fight was on for two, a third was a 30tw almost getting spooled before it spit the hook, and the fourth was a 50 shimano with about 3/4 of the spool missing. We boated 2 yellowfin within 15 minutes and the fight was just beginning with a Big Eye. From the run off we knew this fish was bigger, especially when it took 3x's the line the others took. After about 1 hour and 10 minutes, angler Joe had the Big Eye to the boat. After a dozen death circles, mates Terry and Ray sunk the gaffs and drug a Big Eye through the door. Great job to all my anglersALL 1ST TIMERS!!! Thank you Tom for putting the trip together, it was a pleasure getting your family and friends their 1st tuna fish. What a trip to remember!!!
Capt. RonSr. and Jr. and mates Terry and Ray

11/30/07 Stripers off Beach Haven 4 Keepers to 35" and 15+ Throwbacks!!

Sea Cure fished on 11/30/07 with the Chris Thomson Charter from PA for Stripers off Beach Haven. Chris was with friends Pat, Doug, Bill, Bill and John. We ran up the beach to Beach Haven, and it didn't take long before we ran over the fish. We trolled the area and had some good markes we worked in 25-30' but no bites. As soon as we came shallow to about 15-20 feet, the marks were nonstop, and so were the fish!!!
The First Fish in the boat were a pair of keepers caught on an umbrella rig. Thats Right, 2 Keepers on 1 Rig!!! Throughtout the rest of the day we released no less then 15 and found 2 more over 28".
Here are some shots from the day. All fish were caught on the Troll or Jigs off Beach Haven.

11/12/07 Slow day with the Striped Bass, but found 1 38" Keeper.

Sea Cure fished inside the inlet today in search of the Striped Bass and found one 38" fish at the top of the incoming tide outside Little Sheepshead creek. Eel was the bait of choice. A Very Nice Fish!!

10/18-19/07 What a night at the Wilmington 24 Yellowfin Limit Out!!

Sea Cure with Capt. Ron, Ron and Bill(Madgaffer) ran Thursday to Friday with Rod, Rick, Dave, Ed and Butch to the Wilmingon Cayon for an overnight tuna trip. After running the east wall and the bite we decided on setting up in the lower part of the bite in 72.5 degree water. We have been watching this pocket of water move in from the Spencer. Two days ago Bear fished this water when it was outside of the Spencer. He knew it was getting ready to explode with activity, and he was right. Thanks for the Report Bear!!!
We set up in 600' of water on the edge of the Wilmington Bite and it wasn't long before we were marking and had fish. We ended up with 24 Big Yellowfin from 60-80#. They hit sardines, squid and jigs. We limited out around 4:30 am. As we stayed on watch untill daybreak we hand feed tuna at the transom and watched them jump clear out of the water after some live squid that came up in the lights. What a site, 60+# Tuna jumping clear out of the water!!
It was an awesome trip. Rod, Rick, Dave, Ed and Butch were all experienced anglers, and it showed. They did a great job angling these big fish, only loosing about 2-3 for various non angler errors. It was a pleasure fishing with Rod and his crew, and we can't wait for our next trip together.

10/14-15 Back to the Baltimore for an overnighter and 13 Yellowfin!!!!

Fuel up, Grab bait, and a fresh mate, and off we go!!! Back to the west wall of the Baltimore for some more action!!
Capt. Terry joined the crew with us and our charter Matt, Lenny, Louie, John, Tom, and Nick. All experienced fisherman.
We set up right where we had them last night, but the water temp had dropped a degree. We still had a nice upwelling current, bait and some marks. It wasn't long before we had our 1st bite. Around 9:00 pm all hell broke loose. There they were right in the slick, (JUMPING IN THE BOAT!!just kidding, I'm not you know whowhoever he was!!), but we were feeding them right at the back of the boat. Our 1st blitz was 7 Yellowfin. Even after we lost the 1st 2, and finally went 7 for about 11 within 2 hours. We couldn't keep up with colaring as they hit the deck!! It was a great start to the night.

We picked 5 more throughout the night untill the bite died off around 3:30 am. Then around 5:30 we got the last one. Most fish were caught on sardines. The jigs also produced!! Depth range from 15' to 80' deep
In total 13 yellowfin (3 25-35#)(10 60-90#). Thanks Matt, Lenny, Louie, John, Tom and Nick for an awesome trip. Looking forward to next year.

10/13-14/07 Baltimore Overnighter 9 Yellowfin!!

Sea Cure ran to the west wall of the Baltimore after the blow and found the fish. Capt. Ron, Capt. Ron and Capt. Bill(Madgaffer) were joined by Tom, Tom, Brian, Joe, Brian and Brian Jr. An easy charter to remember names, 2 Rons, 2 Toms and 3 Brians. After a long troll on both sides of the canyon we decided on the west side by the notch in 500' and 72.5 degree water. This was just south of a 2.5 degree break. Our first fish came about 7:30- 8:00 pm. We had steady action all night, with fish after fish. It total we went 9 for about 15. All 60-80# fish!! Tom, Brian, his son Brian Jr., Joe, his son Brian, all got their 1st Tuna Fish!! Congrats, now they are hooked.
Fish hit live squid, and jigs mostly between 20'-80' deep. We also had 1 small run off on the sword line at 120' deep.

9/29-30/07LIMIT OUT!! 18 Yellowfin, Released 1 Sword and 300# Tiger Shark.

WOW!!! That all I have to say.
9/29-30/07 from 7:40PM>3:30AM, almost one right after the other. Jim Agens and friends Walt, Jim and Kevin fought fish after fish, and then dropped one after the next untill they couldn't take it anymore.
We ran to the Wilmington in 4-7 and took our time to pick our spot (about 1 hour to find a good home). The current had shifted from a previous trip, and was now running N to NW against the 15-20 knot winds.
Our first bite came 10 minutes later than we were planning. 7:40Capt. Bill yells "FISH ON!!." For the next 8 hours we boated 18 yellowfin (50-100#), Released 1 46" Sword and Released 1 300# Tiger Shark.
Water temp was 75.5-76.3 degrees. We had a little bit of squid for maybe an hour. Thermocline at 100. Then solid marks at 40'-60'. All the Tuna were within 40' to 80' deep, and caught on dead squid, sardines, and jigs. The sword and Tiger were pulled up from 120' on dead squid.
Thanks Jim, Walt, Jim and Kevin for a great trip!! See you again next year, Capt. Bill and Capt. Ron ____________________________________________________________________________________

9/22-23/07 Wilmington,Wilmington,Wilmington!!! 7 Yellowfin, 20 Mahi, 2 Swords

The Wilmington was home again!! We did the turn around on Saturday and ran back out with Wayne and friends Brian, Gary, Bruce, Michael and Nick. Knowing the troll bite stunk, we ran to the tip and looked for the largest weed island we could find. We passed 6 or 7 but we knew we fished them already and they weren't good enough. Further down the wall we went and there it was on the west side, about 200' long by 100' wide. The mother of all weed lines. We didn't even get within 30 yards and Mahi were under the boat. Within 1 hour we had caught 30-40 Mahi Mahi. We kept the 1st 15-20 Big ones and only the small ones that swallowed the hook. All in total 20 Mahi(12 were 10-20#) and one Trigger Fish. What a bloody mess in the pit!!! I hosed everyone and everything down, and down the wall we went. We set up by the toilet seat and dropped the hook in 400'. Like clockwork the bite was on again around 7:30 pm. Live Squid took 5 fish between 7:30 and 12:00 am. Thanks to Mike for catching the squid down deep all night long!! We got one more sometime in the middle of the night. We also released 2 swordfish throughout the night 1 was 36", the other was 44". Both caught quick, and released healthy. Thanks to Capt. Terry for the swordfish set ups. We pulled the hook early morning and went to the drift, but still no more tuna. Around 6:30-7:00 we ran 5 miles into the 40 line where we had them yesterday at 7:30 am. we set up 1/2 mile on the cold side in 74.7 degrees, after 30 minutes we drifted to the 75.5 and BAAM!!! Fish on!!! Wayne finished the trip off and boated a Yellowfin Tuna close or over 100# after a 45 minute battle. Fish hit a sardine in the slick. Very tough fish, running out more than down. NOTE:This is the 2nd day in a row we had tuna at 40 fathoms inshore of the west wall of the Wilmington right on the temp. break. We will be following this water south inshore of the Baltimore. Total for the trip was 7 Yellowfin Tuna, 20 Mahi Mahi(threw back at least 10-20 more), 1 Trigger fish, 2 Swordfish(Released), and 3 bags of fresh calamari for Mike. Thanks, Capt Bill(Madgaffer), and Capt. Terry.

9/21-22/07 Back to the Wilmington, 4 Yellowfin, 4 Mahi, 1 500# Tiger Shark

Back to the Wilmington we went with John, his son Kevin, Ron, Dave and Frank for another overnight Tuna Trip. We started at the tip on the hook and had a great start with 3 Yellowfin around 7:30-9 PM. Suddenly The bite dropped off for about an hour and I noticed one of my tuna floats running the wrong way. Across the stern went an 11' Tiger shark on 80# mono trailing from his mouth. I set the hook and the fight was on. Frank and Dave both took turns fighting this monster for about 1 1/2 hours. 500#+, 11'-12' long on 80# mono. He was finnally leadered after we got him up about 5 times. I think he was messing with us, not the other way around. When I pulled his head up and it broke the surface he exploded at the back of the boat and SOAKED all of us. Off to the deep he went. What a beautiful and very powerful fish!!! The Tuna bite went down hill after that. We made a move down the west wall to the 1st small notch and went on the drift. We drifted from the 100 to the 40 line inshore of the west wall and didn't see fish untill 7:00 in the morning. At about 7:00 we made the call to keep chunking into the 1st couple of day hours. We jigged and boy did we hook up. AT THE 40 LINE INSHORE OF THE WEST WALL. We got hammered!! We hooked about 6-7 of the multiple tuna that were blasting by the boat and we were in an all out blitz!! Here comes the bad part. We went 1 for about 6!! Capt. Bill(Madgaffer), Capt. Brian, and myself were yelling FISH ON!!, 2 ON!!!, 3 ON!!!!!!!!, 4 ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 5 ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!. And under, over, around, up, down, in, and out for 30-40 minutes took it's toll. Off they went one at a time. One twisted on another, one under on the rudder, one pulled hook, another twisted another. At one point we had 3 fish 30' under the boat running into each other. The fish and us didn't know where to go!! After about an hour of chaos Kevin and Capt. Brian got 1 around 90#. This was the quickest and most abundent blitz of some of the biggest yellowfin tuna I have ever seen. They were jumping out of the water right next to the Skipjack. It was an awesome site!! 75.5 degree water on the 40 fathom line inshore of the west wall!! We will try this spot again soon. All total 4 Yellowfin, 4 Mahi, 1 500#+ Tiger Shark Released Thanks to Ron, Dave, Frank, John, Kevin, and Capt. Bill(Madgaffer) and Capt. Brian(TunaBoy)

9/19-20/07 Wilmington Canyon Report 18 Tuna, 3 Mahi, 1 Wahoo

The rough ride out was worth it. We arrived at the tip of the Wilmington around 4:30 pm and started trolling some nice weed lines. We picked up 3 mahi and 1 yellowfin around 95-100#. Shortly after found a 40# wahoo, and we knew this would be home for the night. Nice temp., structure, and fish already. After setting the hook in about 450 to 500 feet at the very tip of the Wilmington it wasn't long before we were catching yellowfin tuna. 40'-60' was the depth range, some deeper. We used dead squid, sardines and jigs untill we could start catching live squid. We caught solid untill around 2 AM when a couple of large tiger sharks showd up. All fish were in the 70-100# class. We boated two more around 4 AM before we went back on the troll around 8:00 and picked two Longfin around the 40 line. The water temp. all night stayed right around 77 degrees, and we were not marking bait untill around midnight. Then we were marking bait and fish for the rest of the night. Thank you to Scott, Ken, Mike, Tom, Klye and Rob you guys will always be welcome, and were a pleasure to fish with. Yea Rob you tooeven though you lost like 8 fish and had me pretty pissed!! Congrats to Mike and Klye on their 1st tuna. Everyone did an awesome job of angling these big fish!!! Can't wait for your next trip.
We are going out 9/21-22 and 9/22-23 feel free to call us on Ch. 68.

9/12/07Spencer Canyon 5 Mahi Mahi + 1 Wahoo
We ran to the spencer for a full day of trolling with Dino, Uncle Pete and some of their family friends. There was a 1.5 to 2 degree temp. break just inshore of the 100 line. We started there in 77 degree water and worked to the tip and down the SW wall.
We picked 5 nice Mahi Mahi from a few balls in the area, and jumped off another 3. We didn't have any marks throughout the day except some deep marks around 200 feet, so we pushed up onto the flats where we have seen more tuna activity this year. We found 3 commercial boats and more gear, but still no tuna.
Around 3:30 we were trolling into the 40 line area where the temp. droped to about 75.5 degrees and picked up a Wahoo. We worked the area for another hour, seen some schoold of Skip Jack, but still no tuna.
The days tally 5 Mahi Mahi, 1 Wahoo. Still a very happy charter with some great eating fish, and a good day of fishing.

9/8/076 Mahi Mahi for First Timers
We ran to the Elephant Trunk in search of a good day troll bite. We found 77 degree water on the east side of the trunk and lots of weed line and weed islands. We trolled up 3 Mahi Mahi and casted 3 more. We also jumped off a nice wahoo and seen schools of skip jack. This area would be productive for Marlin, but we did not raise any today.
Thank you to Mike Larkin and friends from PA. I hope you enjoyed your first ever offshore fishing trip. We look forward to fishing with you next year.

9/2-3/078 Mahi+26 Yellowfin(YES I SAID 26)
Sea Cure Charters ran to the lindy with about 100 other boats with an overnight charter. Eric, Scott, Rob, George, Ishmel and John got a slow start with nothing on the troll. After we set up in 450' just SW of the tip in 77 degree water we started seeing nice marks at 40-50'. We started chunking at about 7:00. Our 1st fish came at 8:30. After pulling 1 hook and cutting off 2 multiple hookups with tangle and props we boated our 1st fish from the blitz. An 80# class yellowfin on a sardine at 40'. After that it was non stop for 2 hours. The 1st couple of fish were on sardines and small dead squid between 40-60' and Jigs. John the Jigmaster did an awesome job with his gear. (By the end of the night everyone wanted to jig like John) All between 60-80#.
When the blitz slowed we had about 7 fish, so we decided to go deep. We had marks at 200'. It only took us a few minutes to realize it was squid. Every bait at 180-220' was stripped to the bone. We sent down Madgaffers famous squid jig daisy and started pulling up 12" squid 2-4 at a time for the rest of the night. (We even hooked 2 tuna on the jigs as we brought up squidwhich we lost) We hoked the fresh squid and had tuna within minutes. One after the next and offten 2-3 at a time. We caught solid from 11:00PM to 4:00 AM on squid and jigs.
We ended up with 26 Yellowfin 60-95#, and 8 Mahi Mahi. WHAT A TRIP!!!
Thanks to Eric, Scot, Rob, George, Ishmel and John. You guys are always welcome and are a pleasure to fish with. You kept up with the fish all night long and should be proud to call yourselves Tuna Fisherman. No one gave up a rod or a battle, even Rob with that 95 pounder on the jig rod for 45min., but who was keeping track of the timeEric. lol Capt. Ron, Capt. Ron, Capt. Bill(Madgaffer), Mate Terry

9/1/07Released 600# Blue Marlin and 60# White Marlin!!
On Saturday 9/1/07 we had Mr. John Lee, sons John and Kevin, and friends Fran, Ed and George out for a full day offshore trolling trip. We were expecting a good tuna bite but ended up with something a little better. After boating a 35# yellowfin tuna around the 40-50 line inshore of the Lindy we found a very nice white marlin. Ed did an excellent job in handling his first marlin and it was tagged and released, swimming off strong. We pusshed a little further towards the Lindy when it happened. Capt. Ron yelled "Blue Blue Blue". Big Blue came up right in the middle of the spread, then ran with us just off the port side for 30 seconds before cutting back across and under everything and taking a ballyhoo on the left long (Kevins custom set up). The fish exploded on the bait and began greyhounding for the horizon. We quickly ran after him (with the pointy end of the boat) to regain as much line as possible. With 650 to 700 yards of line on a Duel 6/0 we were able to stop him withing the first 2 hours. The 3rd hour was the real battle. Backing down in 4-6 foot seas gaining only about 10-15 yards every 5 minutes or every time we filled the boat with water. The entire charter had a shot at the fish and did a great job at angling. After over 3 1/2 hours he was boat side. All 600# plus pounds of him. With only 150# leader I could not guide him at all. We got him close for about 20 seconds to take whatever pictures we could and we snapped him off. It was a beautiful fish, all who were involved did a great job, and it's nice to watch him swim away after putting up such a battle. ____________________________________________________________________________________

Bob Quinn and his son's Jeremey, Josh and Nick along with friends Tiffany and Michelle found some great inshore action today. Trolling up 6 Big Blues, 5 False Albacore and 1 Bonita. The weather was nice, the fish were biting and Bob hade a good time on the water with his family.
Next trip Bob has his sites set on some offshore tuna action, we will try to make his next dream fishing adventure come true. Thanks for a great trip, and we look forward to getting you some tuna.

9/10/06-Trolled 26 Yellowfin Tuna in 4 Hours!!!
No strangers to Tuna fishing, the Eric Schouten charter for today was blown away when they limited out on Yellowfin Tuna in only 4 Hours, but we would all pay for it on the ride home.
After fishing hot calm water yesterday, we decided to run towards the Wilmington Canyon and fish the cool side of the break, boy did we find fish. 71-72 degrees was the magic number, and we couldn't set three lines without two taking off like mini freight trains every ten minutes. Eric and his group, Scott, Rob, George, Joe and Rob where professional anglers when it came to all reeling in 4 or more Yellowfin Tuna in 4 Hours. After limiting out with 18 in the box and plenty of time, we continued to tag and release. We released another 8 before setting our sites on home. This is by far the best tuna trolling trip I have ever had, with 3 mates and Scott working the pit, we could barely keep up with the action. Thanks for the help Scott!
An afternoon prediction of some high seas came true around 11:45 when we turned for home. An exhausted and very happy crew and charter now looked into a head sea of 4-8 footers with the occasional 10 footer. Even in a 42' Henriques I knew we would pay for this trip on the ride in, but it was all worth it, even when George threw-up all of my bridge. He didn't give up, he was a trooper to the endgo George!!
To Eric, Scott, Rob, George(designated chummer), Rob and Joe, thank you for a great trip, I think you guys worked harder than we did. We look forward to our next adventure!
To find out how we find fish like this, schedule a Seminar Trip, we'll teach you everything we know.

9/9/06-Wow, check out this Weed Line at the Elephant Trunk!!
Todays Charter for the Jim Agens group from Blairstown,NJ found 3 12-15# MahiMahi and 1 80# Bluefin Tuna around a monster weed line just offshore of the Elephants Truck. The other members in the group were friends Walt and Neil. All had a chance to reel in some tasty fish and really enjoyed their day on the ocean today. Flat calm seas and 71 degree water. Midday we pushed off to the Baltimore Canyon where we found 74.5 degree water but little action. The fish seemed to be inshore around the 40 line in the cooler side of the break. We even heard reports of some nice waho in our area. I hope Jim and his friends, Walt and Neil, would consider another trip with us in the future.

8/21-25/06-Sea/Cure wins $12,500.00 for daily caluctta in Mid Atlantic $500,000!!!
56# was the weight of our Yellowfin Tuna worth just under $12,500.00 for the daily "on the board reward". What a start to the tournament! Sea/Cure's tournament team of Capt. Ron McQuaid, mates Ron McQuaid, Bill Heade, Brian Flannagan, and anglers Mike Heade and Mike Kiernan couldn't be happier. We found a nice pod of yellowfin Tuna just inshore of the Wilmington Canyon.
Day two for us on Wednesday was also exciting. After hearing reports of some blue water in the deep of the Toms Canyon we decided to hunt for the big Blue, and we got one. We released a Blue Marlin midday near the 400# class. Nice Fish!! This was Angler Mike Kiernan's first Blue Marlin, and he did a great job fighting this monster.
Day three and the last day of the tournament we returned to the deep of the Toms Canyon again in surch a a bigger bill. The bite seemed to die off and we only raised one small White Marlin. Not alot of action for today, but a beautiful day on the water.
Overall a great tournament, money, and a Big Blue Marlin release!! We can't wait till next year.

8/19/06-Inshore Bluefin 2 100+pounders at the Lobster Claw!!!!!!! Also landed 4 Yellowfin Tuna.
What a Sight!!!! The Kevin Lee Charter of Bridgeton, NJ was witness to the sight of 80-150# Bluefin Tuna busting water and feeding on bait. If not only seeing such a sight was enough, we actually hooked 4 of the monsters. Each member of the group, Kevin, Ed, Fran and Jon got a chance to fight one of the most powerful fish in the ocean. Each did an excellent job and we were able to boat 2 fish over 100 pounds. Also during the day we boated 4 Yellowfin Tuna. We fished the 30 fathom line just south of the Lobster Claw. What a beautiful sight, what powerful fish. Looking forward to our next Tuna trip with Kevin, his father and friends.
